FAQs

General

Why Fox-Boots?

We wanted to take a new name as a couple. Lucy chose "fox" and Stove chose "boots." It’s a little silly, perhaps, but we think this new name is a good fit for our overall vibe. We're also quite fond of the character Adventure Fox, a snarky but loyal fox companion who can communicate with humans, from Kristin Cashore's novel Winterkeep.

How do we pronounce Louisville?

The most surefire way to stand out as a non-local is to pronounce the name of the city as “loo-ee-ville.” Instead, the local lore is that you should pronounce it like your mouth is full of bourbon, so like “luh-vul” or “loo-ah-vul.”

I’m coming from out of town, where should I stay / what should I do?

We are so excited that you're coming to Louisville! Please refer to the Travel page for information about hotels, places to eat, and things to do. We currently have a room block at the AC Hotel in NuLu (see the Travel page for booking info), but there’s no shortage of great hotels in Louisville and we’ve highlighted a few of our top choices on our Travel page.

Is there a vaccination requirement for the wedding weekend?

Yes! We ask that all guests attending any of the wedding weekend events be vaccinated and boosted within the last year and to rapid test before joining the party. We keep each other safe.

Welcome Party

Will there be food and drinks at the welcome party?

Yes! The welcome party will feature appetizers prepared by Decade restaurant, which will include vegan options. There will also be a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available.

Ceremony & Reception

Where will the ceremony and reception be held?

The ceremony and reception will take place at Copper & Kings, located at 1121 E Washington St, Louisville, KY 40206.

Is there a dress code?

Provocative cocktail attire is requested. We encourage folks to wear clothes that feel appropriate for the big occasion (it’s a party, after all!) and for the weather (since this will be an outdoor celebration in mid-September). Our style inspiration is the red carpet for the VMAs… moderately fancy, maximally sexy, and, above all, easy to dance in. We’ve also drawn decor inspiration from Saltburn and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (think some combination of fancy dress x fae court x old money x underground nightclub).

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Weather permitting, all events will be outdoors in Copper & Kings’ courtyard. In the case of inclement weather, we will either provide shelter for the outdoor spaces or move the party indoors.

What will the weather be like?

Probably hot! Typical temps in mid-September vary from the mid-80's in the day to the low-60's at night. But it's a variable time of year! We recommend bringing layers.

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP by Saturday, August 10.

Can I bring a plus one?

Hell yeah! Especially if you’re bringing a date - we love love! Please remember to RSVP for the total number in your party.

Are kids welcome?

We love our friends and our friends' kids! Kids are welcome, but this will be an evening wedding geared towards adults -- you know your family best, and what makes the most sense for you!

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Our ceremony will begin at TBD (give or take a few minutes... we are still us, even on our wedding day). The bar will open 30 minutes before the ceremony begins, so we encourage folks to arrive early and mingle beforehand. The ceremony will take place at Copper & Kings, located at 1121 E Washington St, Louisville, KY 40206.

Will food be served?

Yes. We'll be serving passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception, followed by dinner and desserts.

Can I make a special dietary request?

Please let us know on your RSVP form if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies and we will do our best to accommodate them! We are already planning to have vegan options available for the appetizers and dinner.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! We will have a full bar of cocktails, mocktails, beer and wine. Please bring cash to tip the folks working the event. :)

Will the venues for the wedding weekend be wheelchair accessible?

Copper & Kings, the venue for the ceremony and reception, is wheelchair accessible. We’re still confirming accessibility details with B-Side, the venue for the welcome party, and will update this as soon as we know.

Is there parking on site?

Lot and street parking are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, but may be limited due to other events happening in the area at this time. We encourage guests to Uber, Lyft, or taxi.
